All the lessons are consistently fun, engaging and easy to immerse in. Fatima puts real effort into tailoring the material to topics we enjoy, often bringing extra resources to make things more interesting. She is incredibly creative, always positive, and her encouragement really helps build confidence. If we make mistakes, she guides us gently and constructively. 

The atmosphere is friendly and relaxing, it genuinely feels like learning alongside someone you’re comfortable with. 

I honestly couldn’t recommend Melo Portuguese tuition highly enough.

I have taken several of the courses run by Melo Portuguese tuition, the most recent being the Improvers Conversation. It was excellent, using various topics to improve speaking skills and all the materials were provided for this module. 

I found it has really helped my confidence to speak Portuguese in public, although I need a great deal more practise, so I will definitely be signing up for another course.

The Conversation with Stories course is genuinely enjoyable and cover a wide range of topics, so they never feel repetitive. We are encouraged to think creatively by making our own versions of the stories, using the originals as a guide. We also ask questions that require a bit of investigation and careful listening, which keeps the sessions lively and engaging. Fatima brings a great sense of humour to every lesson and has the patience of a saint, making the whole experience even more fun.

I have been taking Portuguese tuition with Fatima since 2024 and have always found her to be very professional. The lessons are conducted in a way which is formal but nevertheless always enjoyable. The Improvers Conversation course was an excellent way to test one’s memory, improve your conversational skills and put to good use, all that you have learnt through any previous courses.

In short, I would highly recommend Melo Portuguese tuition for anyone wishing to study Portuguese at any level.

I have studied with Fatima for three years, and she is a great teacher. The lessons are well planned and structured, and she sensitively handles differing abilities and knowledge levels within a class. Her approach is very encouraging and no matter what level you are, there is tuition suitable to improve your Portuguese.

About the most recent course, the Improvers Conversation, I really enjoyed it, because the texts discussed were at the right level for me, not too simple and lots of useful new vocabulary. The conversation topics really made you think about how to express yourself.

Online classes offer the same structured curriculum and personal attention as 

in person lessons, with the added flexibility of learning from home. Many students find that the digital format makes it easier to fit lessons into their schedules. We also use interactive tools to ensure classes remain engaging and collaborative. 

We welcome complete beginners as well as learners with some experience. Our free placement test ensures you join the right level, so you feel comfortable and supported from the start. 

The tutor will advise you, if your course requires a book. We provide digital resources, including worksheets and interactive activities. 

A notebook can be kept for personal study and revision. You’ll need a reliable internet connection and a device with video capability. 

We recommend setting aside at least one hour per week for practice and review. Consistency is key, and even short daily sessions can make a big difference. 

We also suggest practical activities, such as watching programmes and films in Portuguese and listening to Portuguese or Brazilian music, to reinforce your learning.
